Big Hit Entertainment founder Bang Si-hyuk announced plans for a second boy group as early as 2017, with a debut date slated for early 2019. On January 10, 2019, TXT was officially unveiled. Over the next ten days, YouTube videos featuring each member, termed “introduction films,” were uploaded.

“[PREVIEW] HI! We are TOMORROW X TOGETHER!” is the first video on his channel. The video has over 1.18 million as of September 2022. The band introduces themselves in the video.

TXT was the first boy band introduced by Big Hit Entertainment in 2019, six years after BTS made their debut. The group’s debut broadcast aired on Mnet and its YouTube page, and it was announced alongside the release of the band’s debut extended play (EP), The Dream Chapter: Star, on March 4, 2019. On March 5, they made their debut at the Yes24 Live Hall.

Following the EP’s release, the music video for the album’s lead single, “Crown” received 14.5 million views on YouTube, breaking the record for the most viewed K-pop debut music video within 24 hours for a boy group, as well as the most liked K-pop debut music video, with 2.3 million likes in 24 hours.

Big Hit Entertainment announced the May 18 release date for TXT’s second EP, The Dream Chapter: Eternity, which will be lead by the single “Can’t You See Me?” on April 28. The album sold over 181,000 units in its first week and debuted at number two on the Gaon Album Chart.

It debuted at number one on the Oricon Albums Chart, making it the band’s first Japanese chart-topper. The album was certified platinum by the Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) in July 2020 for 250,000 album shipments, giving TXT their first certification in the country since their debut.

TXT became the first male K-pop artist to enter Billboard’s Song Breaker Chart on March 23, 2022. On May 9, 2022, they released their fourth EP, Minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, and its lead single, “Good Boy Gone Bad”. Six days following the announcement, pre-orders topped 810,000 copies on April 20, 2022. To promote the EP, the band embarked on their first world tour, Act: Lovesick, which began in July.
